Hi there! In our standards, the powder should be consistent color and (fine) granularity. If you can see "hay", it might still be ok and just mean that the grinding process was sloppy and they didn't put it thru to the machine enough times and some of the veins are still intact. But the finer the powder is, the better the absorption as well.
